A Little About Me

Catholic Wife, Mom, and Musician

I’m Liesl Schiavone and I’m a Catholic wife, Mom and church musician. My husband and I have been married for 11 years and have 6 children. I am the Director of Music for our small parish in Southern Maryland where my husband serves as the High School Youth Minister. For the last 15 years I have worked as a Music Educator, first in the public schools and then in my home studio, where we reside in Chesapeake Beach, MD. We are blessed to live a block from the bay, a well spring of God’s beauty in creation.

I lost my mom in November of 2022 due to a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. This blog was born out of the words and journaling that helped me process that loss within the beautiful teachings of the Catholic Church. My mom was a champion for motherhood, especially as she dedicated years of service to serving in pregnancy centers and empowering mothers with her love and wisdom. I hope that I can continue a small part of her mission in this way.

“Our world thinks motherhood is a problem to be solved, not a blessing to be cherished.”

My husband and I love discussing and growing in our Catholic Faith and I take great joy in bringing the beauty of liturgical living into our home. I feel most at home when sharing the truth and beauty of a life lived with an eternal perspective. I believe that our culture does all it can to strip the joys of motherhood and family life from our day to day life. Our world thinks motherhood is a problem to be solved, not a blessing to be cherished. Let us reorient our thinking to remember what a gift we’ve been given in this vocation.
